In the cosmology of contemporary physics, the final stage in a star's life is a collapsing of its being into itself, a superheavy mass of condensed darkness, dark enough to draw in and contain all light. Our individuated grief will also lead to that end one day, and we will collapse like helpless, perverse dervishes in whirlwind disintegration, into ourselves, broken, wide-eyed, blind, spent.
